IGCSE and A-Level Tutorials
Two qualifications, two boards, and a step between them that catches most students out.
The IGCSE-to-A-Level transition is the steepest single jump in the British system. IGCSE rewards broad coverage and accurate recall; A-Level rewards depth, sustained reasoning and mathematical fluency. Students who did well at IGCSE without much struggle are often the ones who find the first A-Level term hardest, because they have never had to work at it.
IGCSE
Cambridge (CAIE) and Edexcel across Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Combined and Coordinated Science, First and Second Language English, and Chinese. A-Level and IAL
Maths and Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics and English Literature, across both the linear A-Level and the modular International A-Level routes. We cover the practical endorsement in the sciences and the synoptic demands of the final papers, and support applications to competitive UK courses including the admissions tests several of them require.
Bridging the gap
Our summer bridging block between Year 11 and Year 12 focuses on the three things A-Level assumes and IGCSE does not guarantee: algebraic fluency to automaticity, independent note-taking, and the stamina for extended problems. It is short, and for maths and the sciences it is one of the highest-return pieces of tutoring we offer.

Frequently asked questions
Is A-Level or the IB Diploma better for university?
Both are accepted everywhere. A-Level suits students who want depth in three or four subjects and want to drop the rest; the IB suits students who are broadly strong and can carry six subjects plus the core. The better question is which fits your child's working style — we are happy to talk it through.
Do you tutor International A-Level (IAL)?
Yes, including the modular structure and resit strategy, which differs meaningfully from the linear A-Level.
